osx "Tiger" screenshots / mac mini vs DIY pc

Hey, I got these screenshots which were originally hosted at Macshrine but I guess they are down due to bandwidth abuse. :P

Luckily someone mirrored them here.

---------------------------------------
I found this great article over at OSviews.com, comparing the cost of the base Mac mini to a DIY PC equipped about the same. I absolutley agree with what they say. So if you dont...I will have to kill you.

You can find the article here.

mp3players4free.com

I'm sure everyone already knows about freeipods.com, freeminimacs.com, freeipodshuffles.com etc etc.

The only problem with those, is that you can't get anything here in Canada. Just yesterday I found this site:

www.mp3players4free.com

It seems pretty legit to me. Basicly works the same way. Sign-up for one offer, get 5 friends to sign up for one offer. If you want the *free* gift, you need two more friends to sign up for one offer.

I don't really have any reason for you guys to sign up under me, but, if you want I can give you a G-Mail account. The $275 will of course towards my iPod shuffle. So it wont be wasted.

my custom mac mini

Hey everyone. Lmao, like anyone actualy reads this. :-(

Anyways, I've been thinking about how I can get my hands on a Mac mini and iPod shuffle. And how I should customize it and stuff.

Basicly what I did was max every thing out on the Mac mini except RAM. Only 512MB, from what I've heard some Mac people say that isn't enough. I think it will be enough for me.

Stats:
1.42GHz PowerPC G4
512MB DDR333 SDRAM - 1 DIMM
80GB Ultra ATA drive
Super Drive (DVD-RW/CD-RW)
AirPort Extreme Card
Internal Bluetooth
Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse

For the iPod shuffle I'm going to get the 1GB model with the Sport Case because I mountain bike alot and I don't want the thing gettin' banged up if I fall. :D

So, that of course is all speculation, since certainly don't have the $ 1726.15 it's going to cost me for all of this stuff. Maybe I will start a "Rent My Chest" page.

I'll set up a PayPal donate button too. So donate. Hahaha.

first post and new mac toys

Well, sonce the Mac Mini came out I have really gone Mac crazy, even though I don't have a Mac yet. My name is Myles and I live in Canada. Oh yah, I'm a computer geek too.

Since everyone else is covering the new Mac stuff, I'll just go voer the iPod shuffle.

It comes in both 512MB ($129 CAD) and 1GB ($189 CAD) models. Other than storage size (and price) they are exactly the same. Some people say having no screen is a stupid idea and blah blah blah. I say, if you want I screen, get a different MP3 Player, and stop complaining. :P

Some Tech Specs :

Battery life
- Up to 12 hours
Connectivity - USB 1.1 and 2.0
Charge time - About 4 hours
Audio Support - MP3, MP3 VBR, AAC , Protected AAC,
(from iTunes), Audible and WAV
Song capacity - 120 (512MB) or 240 (1GB) songs
Size - 3.3" x 0.98" x 0.33"
Weight - .78 ounce
In the Box - iPod Shuffle, Earbud Headphones,
Lanyard and USB Cap

Like I said above, some people think it's dumb without a screen. But, you don't need one. The whole point of the thing is to stop the contstant replaying of the same songsover and over and over again. You can even plug it in and it will pull random songs from your iTunes library for some freshness every time!

Anyways, I hope to try and post some interesting Mac news here whenever I can, so keep checking back.
